Dan Barnett, Finance Director
With over 40 years of experience as a C-level executive, investment professional, and investment banker, Dan Barnett brings the definition of ‘expert in the field of finance’ to Health Professionals Alliance (HPA). He began his career with Paine Weber Jackson & Curtis in 1981 and advanced to serve as Chairman, CEO, and Chief Investment Officer for Advocate MD Financial Group, Inc., of which he was the creator and founder. In December of 2009, Advocate MD was acquired by FPIC Insurance Group, a NASDAQ traded medical malpractice insurance company, and was subsequently acquired by The Doctors Company. Dan has also managed and co-managed several investment funds including his own hedge fund, Barnett Partners, L.P., with Goldman Sachs serving as custodian. Over the years, Mr. Barnett saw how broken healthcare had become despite soaring annual corporate profits. Not only were doctors unhappy with limited choices to advance their practices, but patients had become equally disillusioned with assembly-line level care even as insurance costs continued to grow. After hearing the calls for an alternative to private equity backed practice purchases and applying his personal philosophy to put himself in the shoes of others for greater perspective, Dan got to work believing that there had to be a better solution. And now, thanks to the hard work and vision of he and his colleagues at HPA, there is!
